April Presidents Message

Hello Members,

Hope this finds you well.

We have not been able to secure a speaker for the April Zoom meeting so the meeting is canceled.

Meeting Space:

Hopefully, we are emerging from the worst of COVID. Now that restrictions are lifting and we’re all vaccinated and boosted, it may be somewhat safer to meet in public. I am working to get a meeting space for MAA, starting in September. Stay tuned.

Congratulations to Howard Muscott who is having a special photographic exhibit at the NHAA Gallery in Portsmouth.

Workshop Opportunity:

Local artist, Byron Carr will be offering a two day watercolor workshop “Paint Until the magic Happens”

Dates: Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 10AM to 4PM  Location: COWERKS, 184 Mammoth Rd, Londonderry, NH  Price: $150

Contact: byroncarr03229@yahoo.com

Byron will supply all the paint, brushes and 2 sheets of full size watercolor paper. This workshop is good for artists of other mediums that would just like to try watercolor.

Last month, Rollande Rousselle, Terri DesRosiers and I had the privilege of touring Bill Earnshaw’s studio in Bedford. Bill was a prolific painter in watercolor collage, oils and acrylics. He left a great legacy to his family. The experience reminded me of an anonymous quote,

“I aspire to inspire before I expire”.

Life is short. As we come out of winter darkness, I’m hoping to make the most of of each day – start a new painting or finish an old one, not waste the light and beauty but get outside more often to paint.

Happy Spring.

Jim
